E’ solo un cantante di canzoni, come lo era anche The Man In Black, che usò la canzone scritta da Tim O’Connell, “A Singer of Songs” come proprio, dolorosissimo, epitaffio nell’album “Unearthed”.
E in un mondo in cui vogliamo, dobbiamo, possiamo sapere tutto di tutti è in un certo modo confortante ignorare completamente la storia del personaggio che si nasconde dietro il moniker A Singer Of Songs. E’ Lieven Scheerlinck, un artista residente a Barcellona (dal nome direi che è belga od olandese, ma chi lo sa?) che risponde così alla mia richiesta di avere una sua biografia: “I have little to tell about myself. Most of is in the music really. A Singer Of Songs started as a side-thing next to my band Birdcircus. I write and record these tiny songs in one or two days max. It just feels nice to get the raw feeling of the song on tape, which happens if you write and record fast. Without too much time to doubt whether words are too personal or melodies too honest. You could say they go straight from my head into the mic. No effects, not too much arranging. and little by little this side-thing became very important to me. Like a diary almost…“.
E’ solo un cantante di canzoni; canzoni che vanno direttamente dalla sua testa al microfono, come scrive lui, e poi durante il tragitto centrano il nostro cuore, parlando a tu per tu con la nostra anima. Conquistandola definitivamente. Ha registrato un album intitolato “Dig For Gold”, lo potete acquistare per 8 miseri dollari sul sito cdbaby. E’ solo una collezione di canzoni. Splendide canzoni acustiche.
