“Vesper” di Leonard Mynx è stato uno degli album che ho amato di più lo scorso anno. Torno a scrivere dell’artista residente a Portland, perchè il chitarrista che l’accompagna, Nathan Clark, ha pubblicato, con il moniker di On The Stairs, un album d’esordio – autoprodotto – intitolato “Beyond A Shadow Of A Doubt”, davvero molto bello e intenso.
L’album, uscito lo scorso aprile, vede la partecipazione dello stesso Leonard Mynx e di una sorta di all star dell’Ovest della musica folk: Audie Darling, Cory Gray dei Norfolk & Western e Carcrashlander, Ben Meyercord dei Y La Bamba, Paul Seely dei The Builders & The Butchers; è stato registrato presso il Miracle Lake da Skyler Norwood (Point Juncture, WA) e presso il Type Foundry da Adam Selzer (Norfolk & Western, M. Ward).
Leggendo tutti i nomi coinvolti avrete intuito che la musica di On The Stairs si muove sulle coordinate di un folk, con venature di Americana, romantico e tendente al malinconico. Io ne sono già completamente rapito.
