Postdata

Conosciuto ai più come cantante dei canadesi Wintersleep, Paul Murphy nasconde dentro di sè un’anima da cantautore che esce allo scoperto proprio in questi giorni, grazie ad un album pubblicato da One Four Seven Records con la ragione sociale di Postdata.
Viene spontaneo accostare il lavoro di Murphy a quello di Brian Borcherdt, che in fuga dagli Holy Fuck registrò nel 2008 il bellissimo EP “Coyotes“. Stesso approccio minimalista alla registrazione e in comune una predilezione per sonorità folk malinconiche, ben lontane dalla musica suonata con i rispettivi gruppi di provenienza.
Paul descrive così la nascita del progetto Postdata: “my brother and I both had a little too much time on our hands over Christmas break. Some Scotch too. We decided to get together and over the course of a few weeks, map out and record everything and anything I could remember from months of half formed dreams and thoughts and melodies. Eight months later we reconvened over a free weekend and tried the same thing, reworking a cluster of songs from the first session and adding more, trying to capture the essence of the initial recording. We did it on the same laptop but with a little more preparation this time“.
